Less Common Side Effects of Acarbose

The following side effects are rare and should not be taken lightly. If you experience any of these less common side effects from taking Acarbose consult your healthcare professional immediately. The following are less common side effects associated with Acarbose:

  • Weight loss
  • Skin rash or itching
  • Yellowing of the skin or eyes, dark or brown color to urine or loss of appetite
  • Unusual fatigue
  • If combined with other diabetic medications such as glyburide, glipizide, metformin, or insulin, Acarbose might cause symptoms of low blood sugar. If you have symptoms of low blood sugar which could include confusion, anxiety or nervousness, difficulty concentrating, nausea, pale skin, hunger, sweating, fatigue, headache, palpitations, tremors, numbness of the mouth, tingling in the fingers, muscle weakness, uncontrolled yawning, cold sensations, blurred vision, shallow breathing, rapid heartbeat, irritability and loss of consciousness seek immediate medical attention
